What this is
Most hotel writing online exists to move a booking. This does not. Valentra Hub is an independent editorial index covering four categories of hotel — art, capsule, casino and ice — chosen because each one asks something unusual of the building, the staff and the guest, and because each one tends to be covered badly: either as a novelty photograph or as a row of specifications.
Every entry here is written as prose. There are no scores, no star ratings, no reader reviews and no price tables, because a number would flatten exactly the differences worth reading about. Where a property is famous for one thing — a collection, a gaming floor, a river's worth of ice — we try to describe the hotel around it as well: how it is laid out, what it is like to arrive at, what kind of stay it is actually built for.
